Who is Ogeaz? // Notable Up & Coming EDM Musicians

Ogeaz: The wonky Dub Artist on the rise - Written by MF Oblivion - 11/2/2021

OGEAZ (real name Zach Sexton) is an experimental edm musician/DJ from Massachusetts producing witty and extraordinary bass music with a fusion of reggae, funk, dubstep, glitch and hip-hop!

OGEAZ currently represents the Dipitus collective and the 413, playing shows all over the northeast with his fellow creators, like Slushroom, Fuzd, Burgers, Soggy Noize, and other “Dipwits” in the collective!

He started producing in his junior year of high school using GarageBand, this was around Fall of 2011. He “didn’t really get serious” with producing until his first year of college, when he realized he “hated” the engineering program he was in, and found himself “always distracted making music”. Second year came around and he found out there was a production major at his school, so he ended up dropping out of engineering and started right up with the music production major!

Ogeaz Beginnings

Ogeaz started DJing in that same year too, 2015 to be exact. He remembers getting his first controller that September and “picked up the basics after a few months”

It was that December he played his first show at the Waterfront in Holyoke (a venue that is now out-of-business).  From there he started playing a bunch of local gigs in the Berkshires anytime he could, and eventually found his way out to Northampton Circa 2017.

“That’s when [he] really started to get serious about the OGEAZ project.”

And the rest was history as we know it… OGEAZ then went on to develop a sound of his own over the years, eventually crafting this signature vibe to his tracks that make his work stand out from others!

His vibrations in his music paves its own lane entirely, and pushes its way through the common standards of accepted conventions of sound design and proposed norms, allowing for true experimentality to make its way to the limelight…

His project released in 2019,L.F.O.Logy” is a good example of his unique and diverse sound, expressing how he touches all over different realms in the world of music through his tracks!

Ogeaz collaborations & sets

His discography is rather expansive and continues to pile with time, but he saves a lot of his heavy heaters for performances and gigs! In terms of actual releases though, he has a bunch of content releases under the Dipitus soundcloud  and several personal projects with artists like Camnah, Slushroom, MF Oblivion, Mavys, and others available on all platforms!

His first official collaboration was with his “brother-from-another”, Ben Warren, better known as DJ BubbleBee!

That same year they did a bootleg remix of an older Travis Scott tune and it actually took off!

Still one of his most popular tracks online to date. His favorite collab to-date however definitely goes to his song with MF Oblivion titled “Throat Punch”

“From the process of making it to now performing it live however many times together, that sh!t Always. Slaps. Hard.”

This song was also on his album with MF Oblivion titled “Frozen Oceans” which is now available on all streaming platforms!

He recently played several sets at the Sub.Cul.Ture fest in Afton, NY with the Dipitus crew, MF Oblivion, and aside from his personal set as well as the collaborative set with MFO, he had a massive b2b set with the dipwits and a bunch of people that were playing sets that afternoon in early September, which had names on the bill like Truth and Tsuruda (Deep, Dark, and Dangerous from the UK), the Apothecary, American Grime, Pi Wrecks, Slaythoven, Yung Abner, Aqmni Kings, Josh Teed, and so many other massively talented artists from all around the country!

For new projects, he has an ep in-the-works called “Haven Forest” that should be out before the end of this year! He’s been working the tracks with his guru, Abstrakt Sonance, to help get them to the next level that he is “really pushing for”. Be on the lookout for that!

This is his most recent release, being dropped on his SoundCloud on the 2nd of November, titled “Sons of Sparda”! Go check that out here!
