Slushroom is an up-and-coming audio engineer/producer/DJ from western mass swinging from the depths of the 413, honing deep bass and wobbly melodies with a witty chemistry, creating this abstract soundscape in his productions that turns heads!
Slushroom is also an official artist and leading booking agent with the up-and-coming collective known as Creatures of the Night Collective where he provides experimental sounds and performs with minds and creators alike across the northeast!
He currently has collaborations released with names like 22BB, Ogeaz, MF Oblivion, and DJ BubbleBee, but has many more underway in the lab to be released within the next year!
His sound is like an exploration through the unknown depths of the lost dimensions of space and time, being transcribed in electronic form from another galaxy, possessing no real focus on a certain subgenre but centered and fusing together random elements around the electronic music base. Taking and experimenting with sounds from all of the different electronic genres to make a whole new style and vibe that’s abstract, expressive, and pure to the Slushroom sound.

Where did the name “Slushroom” come from? :
Before clarifying the name for use, he wanted to see what it meant or if it was taken already, so he then did one of those good ol’ google searches to see if it was connected to anything, then came across an article about how a “slushroom” is actually a psilocybin mushroom covered in DMT.
He once heard slushroom before and thought it sounded cool, later stumbling across the name again while in a deep search for a name to suit the identity of his sound, leading to the idea of having “Slushroom” be his alias and alter ego.
After becoming intrigued by the name having not been taken yet and what it actually meant in terminology; he decided to stick with it as it fit perfectly with his sound structure style!

What software/equipment does Slushroom use?

– FruityLoops is the DAW of choice
– Macbook pro
– Favorite plug-in : Serum
– Uses Splice for samples and soundpacks (or gets exclusive soundpacks from close collaborators!)
– Avoids drum rack on fl for pattern creation, sticks to the grid for laying out his tracks from start to finish so he can see and manipulate the wave forms more closely…
He gets inspiration from…
Fellow creators, unique life experiences and his environment, together providing the fuel behind the approach to the creation of his content!
“My inspiration and drive are, more or less, based off of current emotions and what (he is) or what the listener is feeling at the time of the creation or consumption of the track” [Slushroom]
“The goal is to turn emotions into sound sonically…” [Slushroom]
Music that Slushroom listens to :
Slushroom has a music background diving in many different realms and genres. A diverse taste all around, dipping into sounds like those from the psychedelic rock classics Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd to names around the hip-hop/rap world like DJ Lucas, Xavier Wulf, and Odd Future to more light-hearted jam artists like Sublime and Bob Marley to artists diving more into his complex and in depth experience with the realms of electronic music and dubstep…
– Some artists in his recent rotation : 347Aidan, the Widdler, DJ Lucas, Digital Nas
– Albums he enjoys front to back with no skips :
1. Jazzmatazz by Guru,
2. Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest,
3. Illmatic by Nas

Where does he see himself further in his lifetime with his music career?
Doesn’t wanna blow up massively with his music, and mentions that he wants to “stay in the underground circuits” and keep it chill in the lowkey bass scene, keeping it humble and genuine to his sound, creating art at his own pace and just enjoying the ride…

A glimpse into Slushroom’s performance history?
Some of his earliest shows where I (MF Oblivion) started really getting tight with Slushroom was at Sub.Cul.Ture fest in September of 2021 and Luminescence fest back in August of 2021 when he was still representing with the Dipitus crew, both events were at the New Echo Lake Resort in Afton, NY!
Slushroom has a unique performance history, having held it down locally in western Mass for a few years now by performing underground raves at house parties and secret location throwdowns to much more serious scales like shows at certified venues, such as Hawks and Reed and Bishop’s Lounge!
His most recent notable show he hosted and played was the Bleepout, held on 4/20/23 in Sunderland, MA at the O’s Music Bar, featuring sets from DJ Lucas, East Coast Oracles, Lil Souf, and the Creatures of the Night.
He finds himself also providing a hand with DJ work for his friends who rap on the side of his own performances, DJ’ing/Sound-selecting for live performing artists like DJ Lucas, 22BB, MF Oblivion, Don Gadi, and many more! The ultimate sound geek when it comes to manning a pair of CDJs, slinging a wide span of genres to keep his crowds engaged no matter the situation, event, or motive!
Slushroom’s IDs and quick witted DJ abilities only get slimier and ten times slushier with time, definitely a show worth grabbing tickets to!

Random piece of advice to creators:
“Best advice is to have a clean workstation for a more productive workflow. Your environment matters to your creativity, make sure your environment is clean!! And don’t forget to take breaks when grinding on beats and go back to it later with a different pair of ears, you can’t rush a masterpiece!”
Fun fact?
– Knows and went to school with the Dark World crew (DJ Lucas, ERATT, Rydeordie, etc…)
– Has only been producing for a few years now (since 2019)
